About This Site
An independent monitoring and translation tool for Japan's official immigration announcements, built for the international entrepreneurs and digital nomads who need this information most — and who have historically had the least access to it.
Japan's immigration system publishes hundreds of announcements each year — policy changes, form revisions, fee updates, law amendments — almost exclusively in Japanese, on government websites that are not optimised for international audiences. For the growing population of foreign entrepreneurs, engineers, and remote workers who are building their lives in Japan, or who are planning to, this creates a persistent and costly information gap.
Japan Visa Hub was built to close that gap. Every morning at 3:00 AM Japan Standard Time, this site's automated system fetches the latest published notices from the Immigration Services Agency of Japan (ISA), processes them through an AI translation layer, and adds them to the news feed — with English summaries, urgency classifications, and direct links back to the original official source.
The site also provides a Visa Eligibility Assessment Engine — a structured decision tool based on the legal criteria introduced in Japan's October 2025 immigration reform — and in-depth guides on housing, tax obligations, and healthcare for foreign residents.
Japan Visa Hub is not a government website and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Japanese government, the Immigration Services Agency (ISA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), or any official immigration authority. Nothing on this site constitutes legal advice. The eligibility assessment engine produces informational results only — not formal eligibility determinations. Always verify information directly with official government sources and consult a licensed immigration attorney (行政書士 or 弁護士) before submitting any application.
Japan Visa Hub is built on Cloudflare Pages (static site hosting), Cloudflare Workers (automated scraping and API), and Cloudflare Workers AI (Llama 3.1 8B Instruct model for Japanese-to-English translation and analysis). The news scraper runs on a daily cron schedule, targeting ISA's official news lists and checking for items that haven't been processed before. Only new items pass through the AI translation pipeline; existing articles are served directly from Cloudflare's KV storage.
The AI translation pipeline includes a validation layer that blocks AI-generated content containing invented future dates, fabricated policy details, or specific factual claims not supported by the source title. When the AI output fails validation, a conservative fallback summary is used instead, directing readers to the official source for detail.
